Lo Scrittore at the XXVII Salone del Libro di Turin

Saturday 10 May 2014

The first phase of IoScrittore concludes with the announcement of the 300 works that will continue in the competition. The finalists, selected through the participants’ judgment of the opening paragraphs, will advance to the second phase. At the end of this phase, 10 novels will be chosen for publication as e-books, and one (or more) will be published in print by one of the labels of the Mauri Spagnol Editorial Group.

During the meeting, the initiative will be presented. In collaboration with Pubblicità Progresso, and as part of the campaign for overcoming stereotypes and promoting gender diversity, Punto su di te will award a special prize to the novel with the best female character among the ten winners of this edition of IoScrittore.

Stefano Mauri, president of the GeMS group and creator of IoScrittore, says: The number of participants is growing rapidly, MIBAC has given its patronage, our writers are starting to cross national borders, and rights have been sold in countries like France and Germany. E-books from the past edition have topped the charts. It took time, but IoScrittore, once an experimental formula, is now acquiring a solid and reliable identity. Today, Pubblicità Progresso joins our partners with a campaign for women. What would publishing be without them? We would miss two-thirds of readers, publishers, and booksellers. It would be a sterile medium, incapable of surprising us.”

Alberto Contri, president of Pubblicità Progresso, states: “The campaign for gender equality that Pubblicità Progresso is promoting makes use of all media, old and new, and any opportunity or vehicle that can help eliminate prejudices and highlight diversity. In this context, a literary award for a novel that celebrates the role of women through the imaginative use of words is of particular interest.”
