#NeverAgainMassacres: Over eighty civil society organizations and unions have come together in just a few weeks for this national demonstration against the ‘Ndrangheta, in support of prosecutor Nicola Gratteri and all those who risk their lives fighting the mafia.

On Tuesday, July 5, starting at 7:00 PM, the event will take place in Piazza Duca D’Aosta, in front of Milan’s Central Station. Milan serves as the stage to remind everyone that the ‘Ndrangheta is a national issue and to reiterate that criminal infiltration into the legal economy poses an emergency for democracy.

“The discovery of a plot to assassinate the Chief Prosecutor of Catanzaro’s Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) in early May compelled us to act,” said representatives of the organizing entities. “Thirty years after the Palermo massacres,” they continued, “we felt the need to take to the streets a day in advance, acting as a civic escort to send a clear message to the ‘Ndrangheta and corrupt Masonic lodges: that era is over, and Italy will not tolerate its resurgence. Otherwise, the response from civil society will be resolute.”

The event will feature speeches and testimonies from representatives in cooperation, unions, the economy, philanthropy, volunteering, journalism, and the arts.

Meanwhile, the mobilization has also taken off on social media. Support for the demonstration has come in the form of video messages from figures like PIF, Marco Paolini, Albano, Michele Placido, Luca Zingaretti, Giovanni Minoli, Maurizio De Giovanni, Angela Iantosca, Father Maurizio Patriciello, Antonio Stornaiolo, Rita Pelusio, and Gianluigi Nuzzi.
