On May 24, 2016, from 7:00 PM onwards, the 2016 edition of the international GrandPrix – Advertising Strategies will take place.
A stage for Italian excellence in communication, culture, and institutions, the GrandPrix Advertising Strategies has been held for twenty-nine editions and is the most important award in Italy related to brands and their communication. When strategic thinking merges with creative thinking, the result is extraordinary, and Milan has all the right elements to present the best of advertising.
The city celebrates the excellence of the work done by agencies, with a commitment that follows in the footsteps of major international festivals. With its gaze turned outward and focus on the local territory, Milan positions itself as the capital of brand strategy.
An important aspect of the GrandPrix event is centered on how advertising can be a tool for visibility and the promotion of social and charitable activities.
GrandPrix and the Pubblicità Progresso Foundation, following the success of previous editions, renewed the Pubblicità Progresso Social Award for 2016. This award represents a significant opportunity to give visibility to NGOs and social messages.
This year, the award was presented to the island of Lampedusa, specifically to Mayor Giusi Nicolini.
“Lampedusa has saved the lives of 300,000 people in recent years, a huge amount for such a small island of 5,800 inhabitants, but very little for Europe, which has been shouting about invasion for years. Lampedusa alone has taken them from the sea and given them the first embrace. That’s the most important thing to do if we want them to eventually become citizens.”
These words of Mayor Giusi Nicolini, spoken in Milan during the April 25th event, reflect her ongoing and remarkable social commitment (both to the island and beyond) in recent years. Based on this, Pubblicità Progresso decided to present her with the Social Award at the twenty-ninth edition of the International GrandPrix.
Her commitment spans several causes, including the fight for women’s freedom, for which she was awarded the Simone de Beauvoir Prize by the Parisian foundation of the same name. She has shown passion and dedication in her work, giving Lampedusa the strength to face one of the toughest challenges of our time: the challenge of not turning a blind eye to the needs of others.
With this award, we wish to stand in solidarity with her, the people of Lampedusa, the doctors and volunteers involved, and all those who continue to carry forward the spirit of hospitality and solidarity that has made Lampedusa an enduring symbol of humanity.
