For years, Pubblicità Progresso has been committed to promoting physical activity and healthy eating.

Today, Michelle Obama, an exemplary role model and powerful advocate for women’s health and nutrition, will lead the official US delegation to the US Pavilion “American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet” at Expo Milano 2015.

Driven by the fact that nearly one in three children in the United States is overweight and obesity rates are rising, Michelle Obama created a vegetable garden in the White House, encouraging children to grow and eat their own produce. She also personally engaged with the public by showing herself dancing, exercising, and staying active.

The First Lady’s commitment to fighting obesity began in 2010 with the “Let’s Move” program, a nationwide campaign promoting healthy eating and physical activity. Healthy nutrition, access to education, and health are the main goals of the campaign, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.

As part of this anniversary, the First Lady is encouraging all Americans to “Give Me Five” to anyone they see making healthy choices. The challenge, called “#GimmeFive,” invites people to share on social media (Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Facebook, and Tumblr) the five choices they are making to eat better, be more active, and live a healthier life, using the hashtag #GimmeFive.

In 2006, Pubblicità Progresso promoted not five but ten tips in its “Well-being Decalogue” accompanying the “Movement Campaign.

Highlighting that obesity was also becoming a serious problem in Italy, the organization decided to address the issue with the aim of inspiring a broader reflection on a falsely dynamic society, accustomed to convenience at the expense of an active life, promoting a new and more correct culture of movement. But a healthy lifestyle has its rules, which were described in the decalogue, created with the scientific advice of Professor Eugenio Del Toma: ten golden rules, practical and easy to follow, which, by leveraging the sense of responsibility of each of us, help to find a new balance through better and more consistent physical activity.

Pubblicità Progresso’s commitment to physical activity and healthy eating continues over the years: yesterday with the campaign “A little exercise a day keeps the doctor away,” today with the ebook “Sustainability, Sobriety, Solidarity. New goals for communication.” The third volume of “Social Communication” published by Pubblicità Progresso in partnership with Corriere Sociale is dedicated to the fight against food waste, a topic considered strategically important but which does not yet see sufficient commitment from the various social actors.
